Gi Herren ære og styrke.

¹ Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.

² Gi Herren den ære hans navn skal ha;
Tilbe Herren i hellig prakt.

² Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.

³ Herrens røst lyder over vannene;
Ærens Gud tordner,
Herren hersker over de store vannene.

³ The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders; the LORD is heard over many waters.

⁴ Herrens røst er full av kraft,
Herrens røst er full av majestet.

⁴ The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.

⁵ Herrens røst knuser sedrene;
Ja, Herren splintrer Libanons sedrer.

⁵ The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

⁶ Han får Libanon til å hoppe som en kalv,
Og Sirion til å springe som en ung villokse.

⁶ He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.

⁷ Herrens røst deler ildens flammer.

⁷ The voice of the LORD strikes with flames of fire.

⁸ Herrens røst ryster ørkenen;
Herren får Kadesj-ørkenen til å skjelve.

⁸ The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the Wilderness of Kadesh.

⁹ Herrens røst får hindene til å føde
Og legger skogene nakne;
Og i hans tempel roper alle: "Ære!"

⁹ The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in His temple all cry, “Glory!”

¹⁰ Herren var konge over vannflommen;
Ja, Herren er konge for evig.

¹⁰ The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.

¹¹ Herren vil gi styrke til sitt folk;
Herren vil velsigne sitt folk med fred.

¹¹ The LORD gives His people strength; the LORD blesses His people with peace.
