1 Herre, husk David,all hans lidelse;
1 O LORD, remember on behalf of David all the hardships he endured,
2 hvordan han sverget til Herrenog lovet Jakobs Veldige:
2 how he swore an oath to the LORD, and vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:
3 «Jeg vil ikke gå inn i mitt hus,eller legge meg på min seng;
3 “I will not enter my house or get into my bed,
4 jeg vil ikke tillate søvn for mine øyne,eller slumring for mine øyelokk,
4 I will not give sleep to my eyes or slumber to my eyelids,
5 før jeg finner et sted for Herren,en bolig for Jakobs Veldige.»
5 until I find a place for the LORD, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

7 La oss gå inn i hans bolig;la oss bøye oss ved hans fotskammel.
7 Let us go to His dwelling place; let us worship at His footstool.
8 Reis deg, Herre, til ditt hvilested,du og din styrkes ark.
8 Arise, O LORD, to Your resting place, You and the ark of Your strength.
9 Måtte dine prester være kledd i rettferdighet,og måtte dine trofaste rope av glede.
9 May Your priests be clothed with righteousness, and Your saints shout for joy.
10 For din tjener Davids skyld,avvis ikke din salvedes ansikt.
10 For the sake of Your servant David, do not reject Your anointed one.
11 Herren har gitt David et løfte,en sannhet han ikke vil tilbakekalle:«Jeg vil sette en av dine etterkommerepå din trone.
11 The LORD swore an oath to David, a promise He will not revoke: “One of your descendants I will place on your throne.
12 Hvis dine sønner holder min paktog de forskrifter jeg vil lære dem,skal også deres etterkommere sitte på din trone for alltid.»
12 If your sons keep My covenant and the testimony I will teach them, then their sons will also sit on your throne forever and ever.”
13 For Herren har valgt Sion;han har ønsket det som sin bolig.
13 For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His home:
14 «Dette er mitt hvilested for alltid;her vil jeg bo, for jeg har lengtet etter det.
14 “This is My resting place forever and ever; here I will dwell, for I have desired this home.
15 Jeg vil rikelig velsigne hennes forsyninger;jeg vil mette hennes fattige med brød.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions; I will satisfy her poor with bread.
16 Jeg vil også kle hennes prester med frelse,og hennes trofaste skal synge med glede.
16 I will clothe her priests with salvation, and her saints will sing out in joy.
17 Jeg vil la Davids horn blomstre der;jeg har forberedt et lys for min salvede.
17 There I will make a horn grow for David; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed one.
18 Jeg vil dekke hans fiender med skam,men på ham skal hans krone skinne.»
18 I will clothe his enemies with shame, but the crown upon him will gleam.”
