Privacy

You should be able to read the Bible without being followed. Here is a short, honest account of what we store, and what we leave out.

You can use Bible Compass without an account

Reading, search and topic pages are open to everyone. We use no analytics tools, no ad networks and no tracking cookies, and therefore show no consent banner. The fonts are on our own server, so your browser does not contact Google when you open a page.

What we remember in your browser

To make the site feel like home, your browser remembers a few small choices, for example which Bible translation you prefer, your language, theme and text size. This stays on your own device and is not sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing site data in the browser.

If you create an account

Then we store your email address and what you choose to add yourself: display name, preferred translation, and later bookmarks, notes, highlights and reading plan progress. This is private data that only you can access when logged in. You log in with a link sent by email, or via Google. We then receive only what the account provider sends us to log you in, normally your email address and name. We also record that you accepted the terms, and whether you want the newsletter.

We use Lovable Cloud and Supabase for login and storage. They process the data on our behalf.

Search

When you search, we store the search text itself, the language and how many hits it gave, with nothing linking it to you. We use it to see what people are wondering about, so we can make better topics and suggestions. We do not store IP addresses or user details with searches. So do not type personal information in the search field.

Support for Bible Compass

Voluntary support is not connected yet. When it is, payment will go through a payment provider, and we do not store card details ourselves. Everything on the site works without your supporting us.

Your rights

You can ask for access to, correction of or deletion of the information we hold about you, and you can delete your account. Everything you have saved disappears then too. Contact us if you need help, and we will reply as soon as we can. You can also complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).

If this changes

If we start storing something new, we will update this page first.
