About Bible Compass

Welcome. Whether you read the Bible every day or open it for the first time, we hope you find something here that makes you a little wiser, a little calmer or just a little more curious.

Why Bible Compass?

The Bible is big, and it is easy to stand there wondering where to begin. Bible Compass is made to help you find your way: from what you are going through and thinking about, such as worry, grief, hope, friendship or a difficult choice, to the places in the Bible that speak about it.

We have gone through the whole Bible, verse by verse, and marked what each verse is about and who it is addressed to. That way you can get help both to find comfort and to understand what a text actually says.

How you can use the site

Type what you are wondering about in the search field, for example “worry” or “John 3:16”.
Explore the topics and let yourself be led on from verse to verse.
Read whole chapters in the Bible and compare translations side by side.

Honest about where we stand

The tagging of verses was made with the help of artificial intelligence and has not yet been reviewed by people. A single word in a verse is not always enough to say what a text means, so we keep working on putting the verses in context and getting theological review. Where something has been reviewed, we say so. Licences and sources are under Sources.

Open and easy to use

Bible Compass is built to be open and easy to use. The Bible texts and data have open licences, and the essentials work without an account.
