28 Og vi sa: 'Hvis de noen gang sier dette til oss eller våre etterkommere, vil vi svare: Se på kopien av Herrens alter, som våre forfedre bygde, ikke for brennoffer eller ofre, men som et vitne mellom oss og dere.'

29 Langt være det fra oss å gjøre opprør mot Herren og vende oss bort fra Ham i dag ved å bygge et alter for brennoffer, grødeoffer eller ofre, annet enn Herrens, vår Guds, alter som står foran Hans tabernakel."

31 Og Pinehas, sønn av Eleasar, presten, sa til rubenittene, gadittene og Manasse: "I dag vet vi at Herren er med oss, fordi dere ikke har vært troløse mot Herren i denne saken. Nå har dere reddet israelittene fra Herrens hånd."

32 Så vendte Pinehas, sønn av Eleasar, presten, og lederne tilbake til Kanaan fra sitt møte med rubenittene og gadittene i Gilead og rapporterte tilbake til israelittene.
