1 Herren talte til Moses etter at Arons to sønner var døde, de som døde da de trådte fram for Herrens åsyn.

Herren sa til Moses: «Si til din bror Aron at han ikke må gå inn i helligdommen innenfor forhenget, foran soningslokket på arken, når som helst han vil, for da vil han dø; for jeg vil vise meg i skyen over soningslokket.

3 Aron skal gå inn i helligdommen med en ung okse til syndoffer og en vær til brennoffer.

4 Han skal kle seg i en hellig linkjortel, ha benklær av lin nærmest kroppen, binde om seg med et belte av lin og ha en lue av lin på hodet. Dette er hellige klær, og han skal bade kroppen i vann før han tar dem på.
