7 På den tiden kom Hanani, seeren, til Asa, Judas konge, og sa til ham: "Fordi du har stolt på kongen av Aram og ikke har stolt på Herren din Gud, derfor har kongen av Arams hær unnsluppet din hånd.

8 Hadde ikke etiopierne og lubittene en stor hær med mange vogner og ryttere? Likevel, fordi du stolte på Herren, overga han dem i din hånd.

For Herrens øyne farer over hele jorden for å styrke dem som helhjertet holder seg til ham. Du har handlet uklokt i dette; fra nå av vil du møte kriger."

10 Da ble Asa rasende på seeren og satte ham i fengsel, for han var harm på ham for dette. Og Asa undertrykte også noen av folket på den tiden.

11 Asas gjerninger, fra begynnelse til slutt, er nedskrevet i boken om Judas og Israels konger.
