John

22 Etter at Han avsatte ham, reiste Han opp David til å være deres konge. Gud vitnet om ham: 'Jeg har funnet David, sønn av Isai, en mann etter mitt eget hjerte; han vil gjøre alt jeg vil han skal gjøre.'

23 Fra Davids etterkommere brakte Gud frem Jesus som Frelser for Israel, slik Han hadde lovet.

Før Jesu komme, forkynte Johannes en omvendelsens dåp til hele Israels folk.

25 Da Johannes fullførte sitt verk, sa han: 'Hvem tror dere jeg er? Jeg er ikke Han. Men det kommer en etter meg hvis sandaler jeg ikke er verdig til å løse.'

26 "Brødre, Abrahams barns familie, og dere gudfryktige hedninger, til oss er dette frelsens budskap sendt.
