9 Hold øye med marken de høster, og følg etter dem. Jeg har instruert de unge mennene om ikke å røre deg. Når du er tørst, gå og drikk av vannkrukkene som de unge mennene har fylt.»

10 Da falt hun på sitt ansikt, bøyde seg til jorden og sa til ham: «Hvorfor har jeg funnet nåde i dine øyne, slik at du legger merke til meg, siden jeg er en fremmed?»

Boas svarte: «Jeg har blitt fullt informert om alt du har gjort for din svigermor siden din manns død—hvordan du forlot din far og mor og ditt fødeland, og kom til et folk du ikke kjente før.

12 Måtte Herren belønne deg for dine gjerninger. Måtte du motta en full belønning fra Herren, Israels Gud, under hvis vinger du har søkt tilflukt.»

13 Da sa hun: «Jeg har funnet nåde i dine øyne, min herre, for du har trøstet meg og talt vennlig til din tjener, selv om jeg ikke er som en av dine tjenestepiker.»
