14 Og Gud sa: "La det være lys på himmelens hvelving for å skille dagen fra natten, og la dem tjene som tegn for å markere hellige tider, dager og år,

15 og la dem være lys på himmelens hvelving for å gi lys på jorden." Og det ble slik.

Gud formet to store lys—det større lyset til å styre dagen og det mindre lyset til å styre natten. Han laget også stjernene.

17 Gud satte dem på himmelens hvelving for å gi lys på jorden,

18 for å styre dagen og natten, og for å skille lyset fra mørket. Og Gud så at det var godt.
