Salmene 11

Til sangmesteren. En salme av David.

In the LORD I Take Refuge

For the choirmaster. Of David.

1 Hos Herren søker jeg tilflukt;
Hvordan kan dere si til min sjel,
«Flykt som en fugl til ditt fjell;

1 In the LORD I take refuge. How then can you say to me: “Flee like a bird to your mountain!

2 For se, de onde spenner buen,
De har gjort pilen klar på strengen
For å skyte i mørket mot de oppriktige av hjertet.

2 For behold, the wicked bend their bows. They set their arrow on the string to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart.

3 Når grunnvollene rives bort,
Hva kan den rettferdige gjøre?»

3 If the foundations are destroyed, what can the righteous do?”

4 Herren er i sitt hellige tempel;
Herrens trone er i himmelen;
Hans øyne ser, hans øyelokk prøver menneskenes barn.

4 The LORD is in His holy temple; the LORD is on His heavenly throne. His eyes are watching closely; they examine the sons of men.

5 Herren prøver både de rettferdige og de onde,
Og han avskyr den som elsker vold.

5 The LORD tests the righteous and the wicked; His soul hates the lover of violence.

6 Han vil la glødende kull regne over de onde,
Ild og svovel og brennende vind vil bli deres beger.

6 On the wicked He will rain down fiery coals and sulfur; a scorching wind will be their portion.

7 For Herren er rettferdig, han elsker rettferdighet;
De oppriktige skal se hans ansikt.

7 For the LORD is righteous; He loves justice. The upright will see His face.
