31 Jesus svarte dem: «Det er ikke de som er friske som trenger lege, men de som er syke.

32 Jeg er ikke kommet for å kalle rettferdige, men for å kalle syndere til omvendelse.»

De sa til ham: «Johannes' disipler faster ofte og ber, og det samme gjør fariseernes disipler, men dine spiser og drikker.»

34 Jesus svarte: «Kan dere få brudgommens venner til å faste mens han er med dem?

35 Men den tid vil komme da brudgommen blir tatt fra dem; i de dager vil de faste.»
