Fasting

16 Da de skriftlærde som var fariseere så ham spise med dem som ble regnet som syndere og tollere, spurte de disiplene hans: "Hvorfor spiser han med tollere og syndere?"

17 Da Jesus hørte dette, sa han til dem: "Det er ikke de som er friske som trenger lege, men de som er syke. Jeg er ikke kommet for å kalle rettferdige, men syndere."

Nå fastet Johannes' disipler og fariseerne. Noen mennesker kom og spurte Jesus: "Hvorfor faster Johannes' disipler og fariseernes disipler, men dine disipler gjør det ikke?"

19 Jesus svarte: "Kan brudgommens gjester faste mens han er med dem? Så lenge de har ham hos seg, kan de ikke faste.

20 Men dagene skal komme da brudgommen blir tatt fra dem, og da skal de faste på den dagen.
