11 Da viste en Herrens engel seg for ham, plassert ved høyre side av røkelsesalteret.

12 Sakarja ble forferdet da han så ham, og frykt grep ham.

Men engelen sa til ham: “Frykt ikke, Sakarja; din bønn er blitt hørt. Din kone Elisabet skal føde deg en sønn, og du skal gi ham navnet Johannes.

14 Han skal bli til glede og fryd for deg, og mange skal glede seg over hans fødsel.

15 For han skal være stor i Herrens øyne. Han skal ikke drikke vin eller sterk drikk, og han skal bli fylt med Den Hellige Ånd allerede fra mors liv.
