3 Så talte Moses og Eleasar, presten, til dem på Moabs sletter ved Jordan, rett overfor Jeriko, og sa:

4 "Ta en folketelling av mennene fra tjue år og oppover, slik Herren befalte Moses." Dette var israelittene som kom ut av Egypt:

Etterkommerne av Ruben, Israels førstefødte, var: fra Hanok, hanokittenes familie; fra Pallu, palluittenes familie;

6 fra Hesron, hesronittenes familie; fra Karmi, karmittenes familie.

7 Dette var familiene til rubenittene, og de som ble talt, var 43 730.
