17 Likevel, slik Herren har tildelt hver enkelt, slik Gud har kalt hver, la dem leve på denne måten. Dette er min regel i alle kirkene.

18 Ble noen kalt mens de var omskåret? Han skal ikke søke å fjerne merkene av omskjæring. Ble noen kalt mens de var uomskåret? Han skal ikke søke omskjæring.

Den fysiske tilstanden av omskjæring eller uomskjæring har ingen betydning, men det som virkelig betyr noe er å holde Guds bud.

20 Hver person skal forbli i den tilstanden de ble kalt.

21 Ble du kalt som slave? La det ikke bekymre deg. Men hvis du kan få din frihet, benytt anledningen.
