2 at jeg har stor sorg og uopphørlig smerte i mitt hjerte.

3 For jeg kunne ønske at jeg selv var forbannet og skilt fra Kristus for mine brødres skyld, mine slektninger etter kjødet,

som er israelitter. Deres er barnekåret, herligheten, paktene, lovgivningen, tempeltjenesten og løftene.

5 Deres er fedrene, og fra dem stammer Messias etter kjødet, han som er Gud over alle, velsignet i evighet. Amen.

6 Det er ikke som om Guds ord har slått feil. For ikke alle som stammer fra Israel er virkelig Israel.
