Jojada

2 Men Jehosjeba, datter av kong Joram, søster til Akasja, tok Joasj, sønn av Akasja, og stjal ham bort fra kongens sønner som ble drept, og plasserte ham og hans amme i et soverom. Så de skjulte ham for Atalja, og han ble ikke drept.

3 Så han ble skjult hos henne i Herrens hus i seks år, mens Atalja regjerte over landet.

I det syvende året sendte Jojada bud etter høvedsmennene over hundre, karittene og vaktene, og førte dem inn i Herrens hus. Der gjorde han en pakt med dem, lot dem avlegge ed i Herrens hus, og viste dem kongens sønn.

5 Og han befalte dem og sa: «Dette er det dere skal gjøre: en tredjedel av dere som kommer inn på sabbaten og holder vakt over kongens hus,

6 en tredjedel skal være ved Sur-porten, og en tredjedel ved porten bak vaktene. Og dere skal holde vakt over huset for å forsvare det.
