Salmene 114

A Psalm of Exodus

1 Da Israel dro ut fra Egypt,
Jakobs hus fra et folk med fremmed språk,

1 When Israel departed from Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of foreign tongue,

2 Ble Juda hans hellige sted,
Israel, hans rike.

2 Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel His dominion.

3 Havet så det og flyktet;
Jordan snudde tilbake.

3 The sea observed and fled; the Jordan turned back;

4 Fjellene hoppet som værer,
Haugene som unge lam.

4 the mountains skipped like rams, the hills like lambs.

5 Hva er det med deg, hav, at du flykter?
Jordan, at du snur tilbake?

5 Why was it, O sea, that you fled, O Jordan, that you turned back,

6 Fjell, at dere hopper som værer?
Haugene, som unge lam?

6 O mountains, that you skipped like rams, O hills, like lambs?

7 Skjelv, jord, for Herrens åsyn,
For Jakobs Guds åsyn,

7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob,

8 Han som forvandlet klippen til en vannpytt,
Flint til en rennende kilde.

8 who turned the rock into a pool, the flint into a fountain of water!
