4 De tok moabittiske kvinner til koner; den ene het Orpa og den andre Rut. De bodde der i omtrent ti år.

5 Både Mahlon og Kiljon døde også, og Noomi satt igjen uten sine to sønner og sin mann.

Noomi hørte i Moab at Herren hadde gjestet sitt folk ved å gi dem mat. Hun og hennes svigerdøtre gjorde seg klare til å vende tilbake derfra.

7 Hun dro fra stedet hvor hun hadde bodd, med sine to svigerdøtre, og la ut på veien for å vende tilbake til Juda land.

8 Noomi sa til sine to svigerdøtre: “Gå tilbake, hver av dere, til deres mors hus. Måtte Herren vise godhet mot dere, slik dere har vist mot de døde og mot meg.
