40 For det er min Fars ønske at alle som ser Sønnen og tror på ham skal ha evig liv, og jeg vil reise dem opp på den siste dag."

41 Da begynte jødene å murre over ham fordi han sa: "Jeg er brødet som kom ned fra himmelen."

De sa: "Er ikke dette Jesus, sønn av Josef, hvis far og mor vi kjenner? Hvordan kan han nå si: 'Jeg har kommet ned fra himmelen'?"

43 Jesus svarte: "Slutt å murre blant dere.

44 Ingen kan komme til meg uten at Faderen som sendte meg, først kaller dem, og jeg vil reise dem opp på den siste dag.
