6 Men de svarte: "Vi drikker ikke vin, for Jonadab, sønn av Rekab, vår stamfar, bød oss: ‘Dere må ikke drikke vin, verken dere eller deres etterkommere, til evig tid.

7 Dere skal ikke bygge hus, så noe såkorn eller plante vingårder, eller eie noen; men dere må bo i telt alle deres dager, så dere kan leve lenge i det landet hvor dere er vandrere.’

Vi har adlydt Jonadab, sønn av Rekab, vår stamfars røst, i alt han bød oss, å ikke drikke vin alle våre dager, vi, våre koner, våre sønner eller våre døtre,

9 og ikke bygge hus å bo i, og vi har ikke vingårder, marker eller avlinger.

10 Vi har bodd i telt og har adlydt og gjort alt som vår stamfar Jonadab bød oss.
