2. Krønikebok 2,4

2 Så Salomo satte sytti tusen menn til å bære byrder,
åtti tusen menn til å hugge stein i fjellene,
og 3 600 tilsynsmenn til å lede folket.

3 Da sendte Salomo bud til Huram, kongen av Tyrus, og sa:
"Slik som du gjorde med min far David og sendte ham sedertre for å bygge et hus for ham å bo i,
gjør det samme for meg.

Se, jeg bygger et hus for Herrens, min Guds, navn,
for å innvie det til Ham,
for å brenne velluktende røkelse for Ham,
for stadig å sette fram skuebrødene,
og for å ofre brennoffer morgen og kveld,
på sabbater, nymåner og på Herrens, vår Guds, fastsatte høytider.
Dette skal gjøres i Israel for alltid.

5 Huset jeg har til hensikt å bygge skal være storslått,
for vår Gud er større enn alle andre guder.

6 Men hvem er i stand til å bygge et hus for Ham,
siden himlene og de høyeste himler ikke kan romme Ham?
Så hvem er jeg, at jeg skulle bygge et hus for Ham,
annet enn som et sted å brenne røkelse for Ham?
