Bileam

18 Bileam svarte dem: «Selv om Balak ga meg sitt palass fylt med sølv og gull, kunne jeg ikke gjøre noe stort eller lite utover det Herren min Gud befaler.

19 Nå, vær så snill å bli her i natt også, så jeg kan finne ut hva annet Herren vil si meg.»

Den natten kom Gud til Bileam og sa: «Siden disse mennene har kommet for å kalle deg, gå med dem, men gjør bare det jeg sier til deg.»

21 Bileam sto opp tidlig, salte eselet sitt og fulgte med Moabs tjenestemenn.

22 Men Gud ble sint da han dro, og Herrens engel sto på veien for å motsette seg ham. Bileam red på eselet sitt, og hans to tjenere var med ham.
