1 Så ble Jesus ledet av Ånden ut i ørkenen for å bli fristet av djevelen.

2 Etter å ha fastet i førti dager og førti netter, ble han sulten.

Fristeren kom til ham og sa: «Hvis du er Guds Sønn, si at disse steinene skal bli til brød.»

4 Men Jesus svarte: «Det står skrevet: ‘Mennesket lever ikke av brød alene, men av hvert ord som går ut av Herrens munn.’»

5 Da tok djevelen ham med til den hellige by og stilte ham på tempelmuren.
