Johannes 5,18

16 Av denne grunn begynte de jødiske lederne å forfølge Jesus, fordi han gjorde disse tingene på sabbaten.

17 Men Jesus svarte dem: "Min Far arbeider inntil nå, og jeg arbeider også."

Av denne grunn søkte de enda mer å drepe ham, fordi han ikke bare brøt sabbaten, men også kalte Gud sin egen Far, og gjorde seg selv lik Gud.

19 Derfor svarte Jesus: "Sannelig, sannelig, jeg sier dere, Sønnen kan ikke gjøre noe av seg selv; han kan bare gjøre det han ser Faderen gjøre, for hva Faderen gjør, gjør Sønnen også.

20 For Faderen elsker Sønnen og viser ham alt han gjør. Han vil vise ham enda større gjerninger enn disse, så dere vil bli forundret.
