Amalek

11 Landet hadde fred i førti år, inntil Otniel, sønn av Kenas, døde.

12 Igjen gjorde israelittene det som var ondt i Herrens øyne, og på grunn av dette styrket Herren Eglon, kongen av Moab, mot Israel.

Eglon samlet ammonittene og amalekittene, og de angrep Israel og erobret Palmbyen.

14 Israelittene tjente Eglon, kongen av Moab, i atten år.

15 Da israelittene ropte til Herren, reiste Han opp en befrier for dem, Ehud, en venstrehendt mann, sønn av Gera, benjaminitten. Israelittene sendte ham med tributt til Eglon, kongen av Moab.
