52 Hvilke av profetene unngikk deres forfedre å forfølge? De drepte dem som kunngjorde den Rettferdiges komme, og nå har dere blitt Hans forrædere og mordere—

53 dere som mottok loven gitt gjennom engler, men ikke har holdt den.»

Da medlemmene av Sanhedrin hørte dette, ble de rasende og skar tenner mot ham.

55 Men Stefanus, fylt av Den Hellige Ånd, så opp til himmelen og så Guds herlighet, og Jesus stå ved Guds høyre hånd.

56 «Se,» sa han, «jeg ser himmelen åpnet og Menneskesønnen stå ved Guds høyre hånd.»
