Hormah
Prayer

1 Da kanaanitterkongen i Arad, som bodde i Negev, hørte at Israel nærmet seg på veien til Atarim, gikk han til kamp mot Israel og tok noen av dem til fange.

2 Da avla Israel et løfte til Herren og sa: «Hvis du virkelig gir dette folket i våre hender, skal vi fullstendig ødelegge deres byer.»

Herren hørte Israels bønn og overga kanaanittene til dem. De ødela dem og deres byer fullstendig, og stedet ble kalt Horma.

4 De reiste fra fjellet Hor langs veien til Rødehavet for å omgå Edoms land; men folket ble utålmodige underveis.

5 Folket talte mot Gud og Moses og sa: «Hvorfor har dere ført oss opp fra Egypt for å dø i ørkenen? Det er ikke brød, det er ikke vann, og vi avskyr denne elendige maten!»
