1 I den tredje måneden etter at israelittene hadde dratt ut av Egypt, på den dagen, kom de til Sinai-ørkenen.
2 Etter å ha reist fra Rephidim, kom de til Sinai-ørkenen og slo leir der foran fjellet.
Moses gikk opp til Gud, og Herren ropte til ham fra fjellet og sa: “Dette skal du si til Jakobs hus og fortelle Israels barn:
4 ‘Dere har vært vitne til hva jeg gjorde med egypterne, og hvordan jeg bar dere som på ørnevinger og brakte dere til meg selv.
5 Nå, hvis dere fullt ut adlyder min røst og holder min pakt, da skal dere av alle nasjoner være min dyrebare eiendom, for hele jorden er min.
