20 Gud var med gutten mens han vokste opp. Han bodde i ødemarken og ble en bueskytter.

21 Han bodde i ødemarken Paran, og hans mor fant ham en kone fra Egypt.

I løpet av den perioden sa Abimelek og Pikol, hans hærfører, til Abraham, “Gud er med deg i alle dine gjøremål.

23 Nå sverge til meg her foran Gud at du ikke vil bedra meg eller mine etterkommere. Vis den samme godhet mot meg og landet hvor du bor som jeg har vist deg.”

24 Abraham sa, “Jeg sverger det.”
