13 Si derfor at du er min søster, så det går meg godt for din skyld, og jeg får leve på grunn av deg.»

14 Da Abram kom til Egypt, så egypterne at Sarai var meget vakker.

Faraos hoffmenn så henne og priste henne for farao, og hun ble tatt inn i hans palass.

16 Han behandlet Abram godt for hennes skyld, og Abram fikk sauer, okser, esler, tjenere og tjenestepiker, eselhopper og kameler.

17 Men Herren slo farao og hans hus med alvorlige plager på grunn av Sarai, Abrams kone.
