David

2 Da sa Natan til David,
"Gjør alt det du har i sinne,
for Gud er med deg."

3 Men det skjedde samme natt, at Guds ord kom til Natan og sa,

"Gå og si til min tjener David,
‘Så sier Herren:
Du skal ikke bygge et hus for meg å bo i.

5 For jeg har ikke bodd i et hus siden den dagen jeg førte Israel opp til denne dag,
men jeg har gått fra telt til telt, og fra ett bosted til et annet.

6 Hvor jeg enn har vandret med hele Israel,
har jeg talt et ord med noen av Israels dommere,
som jeg befalte å vokte mitt folk, og sagt,
“Hvorfor har dere ikke bygd meg et hus av sedertre?”’
