6 Hans far hadde aldri irettesatt ham på noe tidspunkt ved å spørre, “Hvorfor har du gjort dette?” Og han var også en meget kjekk mann, og han ble født etter Absalom.

7 Han rådførte seg med Joab, sønn av Seruja, og med Abjatar, presten, og de fulgte Adonja og støttet ham.

Men Sadok, presten, Benaja, sønn av Jojada, Natan, profeten, Sjimi, Rei, og Davids mektige menn var ikke med Adonja.

9 Og Adonja ofret sauer og okser og gjøddfe ved steinen Sohelet, som er ved En-Rogel. Han inviterte alle sine brødre, kongens sønner, og alle Judas menn som var kongens tjenere.

10 Men Natan, profeten, Benaja, de mektige mennene, og Salomo, hans bror, ble ikke invitert.
