5 bare dere nøye lytter til Herren deres Guds røst og holder alle disse budene som jeg gir dere i dag.

6 Herren din Gud vil velsigne deg slik Han har lovet, og du skal låne til mange nasjoner, men ikke låne selv; du skal herske over mange nasjoner, men de skal ikke herske over deg.

Hvis det er en fattig blant dere, en av dine landsmenn, i noen av byene i det landet som Herren din Gud gir deg, skal du ikke forherde ditt hjerte eller lukke din hånd mot din fattige bror.

8 I stedet skal du åpne din hånd fritt for ham og låne ham det han trenger.

9 Vær forsiktig så du ikke har denne onde tanken: 'Det syvende året, ettergivelsesåret, er nær,' slik at du viser uvilje mot din trengende bror og ikke gir ham noe. Han kan da appellere til Herren mot deg, og du vil være skyldig i synd.
