16 Samle alt byttet fra byen midt på torget og brenn byen og alt dens bytte som et helt brennoffer til Herren din Gud. Den skal forbli en ruin for alltid, aldri å bli gjenoppbygd.

17 Ingenting som er bestemt for ødeleggelse skal forbli i dine hender, slik at Herren kan vende seg fra Sin brennende vrede og vise deg nåde, og ha medfølelse med deg og øke ditt antall, slik Han lovet med ed til dine forfedre—

hvis du adlyder Herren din Gud ved å holde alle Hans bud som jeg gir deg i dag og gjøre det som er rett i Herrens din Guds øyne.
