19 Abner talte også i Benjamins hørsel; og i tillegg gikk Abner for å tale med David i Hebron alt som var godt i Israels øyne og i hele Benjamins hus.

20 Da kom Abner og tjue menn med ham til David i Hebron. Og David forberedte et festmåltid for Abner og mennene som var med ham.

Abner sa til David, "La meg reise meg og gå og samle hele Israel til min herre kongen, slik at de kan inngå en pakt med deg, og at du kan være konge over alt ditt hjerte ønsker." Så sendte David Abner bort, og han dro i fred.

22 Og se, Davids tjenere og Joab kom fra et raid og brakte mye bytte med seg; men Abner var ikke med David i Hebron, for David hadde sendt ham bort, og han hadde dratt i fred.

23 Da Joab og hele hæren som var med ham ankom, informerte de Joab og sa, "Abner, sønn av Ner, kom til kongen, og han har sendt ham bort, og han har dratt i fred."
