Dom og rettferdig straff

17 Og Herren har gjort akkurat som Han talte gjennom meg; for Herren har revet kongeriket ut av din hånd og gitt det til din nabo, til David.

18 Fordi du ikke adlød Herrens røst og ikke utførte Hans voldsomme vrede mot Amalek, så har Herren gjort dette mot deg i dag.

Videre vil Herren også overgi Israel sammen med deg til filisterne; og i morgen vil du og dine sønner være med meg. Ja, Herren vil overgi Israels hær til filisterne!"

20 Da falt Saul straks langflat til jorden, og var svært redd på grunn av Samuels ord. Det var ingen styrke i ham, fordi han ikke hadde spist mat hele dagen og hele natten.

21 Da kom kvinnen til Saul og så at han var vettskremt, og sa til ham: "Se, din tjener har adlydt deg, og jeg har tatt mitt liv i min hånd og har lyttet til dine ord som du talte til meg.
