37 Planen virket gunstig for farao og for alle hans tjenestemenn.

38 Så spurte farao dem: "Kan vi finne noen som denne mannen, en som har Guds ånd?"

Da sa farao til Josef: "Siden Gud har gjort alt dette kjent for deg, er det ingen så innsiktsfull og klok som du.

40 Du skal ha oppsyn med mitt palass, og hele mitt folk skal følge dine befalinger. Bare med hensyn til tronen vil jeg være større enn deg."

41 Så sa farao til Josef: "Jeg utnevner deg herved over hele landet Egypt."
