3 Du lar mennesker vende tilbake til støv
Og sier: "Vend tilbake, dere menneskebarn."

4 For tusen år i dine øyne
Er som en dag som nettopp har gått,
Eller som en nattevakt.

Du skyller dem bort som en flom, de sovner;
Om morgenen er de som gress som fornyer seg.

6 Om morgenen blomstrer det og vokser opp;
Om kvelden visner det og tørker bort.

7 For vi er blitt fortært av din vrede,
Og vi er blitt forferdet av din harme.
