52 Gravene åpnet seg, og kroppene til mange hellige som hadde dødd, ble oppreist til liv.

53 De kom ut av gravene etter Jesu oppstandelse og gikk inn i den hellige byen, hvor de viste seg for mange mennesker.

Da høvedsmannen og de som var med ham og voktet Jesus så jordskjelvet og alt som hadde skjedd, ble de svært redde og sa: "Sannelig, Han var Guds Sønn!"

55 Mange kvinner var der og så på fra avstand. De hadde fulgt Jesus fra Galilea for å tjene Ham.

56 Blant dem var Maria Magdalena, Maria mor til Jakob og Josef, og moren til Sebedeus' sønner.
