4 Dette skjedde for å oppfylle det som var talt ved profeten:

5 “Si til Sions datter: ‘Se, din konge kommer til deg, saktmodig og ridende på et esel, ja, på en fole, en eselfoles unge.’”

Disiplene gikk av sted og gjorde som Jesus hadde pålagt dem.

7 De førte eselet og folen, la kappene sine på dem, og han satte seg på dem.

8 En stor folkemengde bredte kappene sine ut på veien, mens andre skar greiner av trærne og strødde dem på veien.
