7 Etterkommerne av Merari, etter sine familier, fikk tolv byer fra stammene Ruben, Gad og Sebulon.
8 Så israelittene tildelte disse byene og deres beitemarker til levittene, som Herren hadde instruert gjennom Moses.
Fra stammene Juda og Simeon tildelte de følgende byer ved navn:
10 Disse byene var for etterkommerne av Aron, fra kehatittenes klaner av levittene, da deres lodd var først.
11 De ga dem Kirjat-Arba (det vil si Hebron), med dens omkringliggende beitemarker, i fjellandet Juda. (Arba var far til Anak-linjen.)
