3 For Moses hadde gitt arveloddet til de to stammene og den halve stammen øst for Jordan; men han ga ikke levittene noen arvelodd blant dem.

4 Josefs etterkommere dannet to stammer, Manasse og Efraim. Levittene fikk ingen del av landet, bortsett fra byer å bo i, med beitemarker for deres buskap og eiendeler.

Israelittene gjorde som Herren hadde befalt Moses, og de delte landet.

6 Da kom Judas folk til Josva i Gilgal, og Kaleb, Jefunnes sønn, kenisitten, sa til ham: "Du vet hva Herren sa til Moses, Guds mann, om deg og meg i Kadesj-Barnea.

7 Jeg var førti år gammel da Moses, Herrens tjener, sendte meg fra Kadesj-Barnea for å utforske landet, og jeg kom tilbake med en rapport i samsvar med min overbevisning.
