20 Da Marta hørte at Jesus kom, gikk hun ut for å møte Ham, mens Maria ble hjemme.

21 "Herre," sa Marta til Jesus, "hadde Du vært her, vet jeg at min bror ikke ville ha dødd.

Men jeg vet at selv nå vil Gud gi Deg hva Du enn ber om."

23 Jesus forsikret henne: "Din bror vil bli oppreist."

24 Marta svarte: "Jeg vet at han vil stå opp igjen i oppstandelsen på den siste dag."
