1 I begynnelsen av regjeringstiden til Sidkia, sønn av Josjia, konge av Juda, kom dette budskapet til Jeremia fra Herren:

2 Dette er hva Herren instruerte meg: “Lag et åk med remmer og stenger og legg det på din nakke.

Send en melding til kongene av Edom, Moab, Ammon, Tyrus og Sidon gjennom utsendingene som har ankommet Jerusalem for å møte Sidkia, kongen av Juda.

4 Instruer dem til å levere dette til deres herrer: ‘Dette er hva hærskarenes Herre, Israels Gud, erklærer: “Formidle dette til deres herrer:

5 Med min enorme kraft og utstrakte arm skapte jeg jorden, menneskene og dyrene som bor på den, og jeg gir den til hvem jeg vil.
