3 Alle embetsmennene i provinsene, satrapene, guvernørene og de som utførte kongens forretninger støttet jødene, fordi frykten for Mordekai hadde overveldet dem.

4 Mordekai var fremtredende i kongens palass, og hans berømmelse spredte seg gjennom provinsene, for han ble mer og mer mektig.

Jødene slo alle sine fiender med sverdet, drepte og ødela dem, og de gjorde som de ønsket med dem som hatet dem.
