Esra 4,2

¹ Da motstanderne av Juda og Benjamin hørte at de bortførte bygde et tempel for Herren, Israels Gud,

gikk de til Serubabel og overhodene for fedrenes hus og sa til dem: "La oss bygge sammen med dere, for vi søker deres Gud slik som dere, og vi har ofret til Ham siden Esarhaddon, kongen av Assyria, førte oss hit."

³ Men Serubabel, Jesjua og resten av overhodene for Israels fedrehus sa til dem: "Dere har ingen del med oss i å bygge et hus for vår Gud; vi alene vil bygge for Herren, Israels Gud, slik kong Kyros, kongen av Persia, har befalt oss."

⁴ Da svekket folket i landet motet hos folket i Juda og skremte dem fra å bygge videre,
