12 Sebah og Salmunna flyktet, men han forfulgte og fanget de to kongene av Midjan, Sebah og Salmunna, og slo hele hæren deres.
13 Gideon, sønn av Joasj, vendte så tilbake fra slaget ved Heres-stigningen.
Han fanget en ung mann fra Sukkot og forhørte ham, og den unge mannen skrev ned for ham navnene på de syttisju lederne og eldste i Sukkot.
15 Så kom Gideon til mennene i Sukkot og sa: «Her er Sebah og Salmunna, om hvem dere hånte meg og sa: ‘Har du allerede Sebah og Salmunna i dine hender, at vi skulle gi brød til dine trette menn?’»
16 Han tok byens eldste og disiplinerte mennene i Sukkot med ørkentorner og tistler.
