7 Folket tjente Herren gjennom hele Josvas levetid og de eldste som overlevde ham og hadde vært vitne til alle de store gjerningene Herren hadde gjort for Israel.

8 Josva, Nuns sønn, Herrens tjener, døde i en alder av hundre og ti år.

De begravde ham i området av hans arv, i Timnat-Heres, i fjellandet Efraim, nord for Gaasj-fjellet.

10 Etter at hele den generasjonen var samlet til sine fedre, vokste det opp en annen generasjon som verken kjente Herren eller de gjerningene han hadde gjort for Israel.

11 Da gjorde israelittene det som var ondt i Herrens øyne og tjente Baalene.
